About Us
Clare Calderwood, Principal Clinical Psychologist
Clare loves walking alongside clients and helping them build confidence in themselves and their ability to cope with whatever life throws at them.
Clare has experience in many settings: a public hospital with people with chronic health conditions, in a university counselling service, in private practice, in schools, and in a specialist anxiety clinic. She is committed to providing evidence-based treatment and primarily uses Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. She has provided academic tutoring to undergraduate psychology students and lectured in psychology to medical students. Clare is a board-approved supervisor for psychologists and psychology students. She provides training for doctors, nurses and allied health professionals in psychological strategies for management of chronic health conditions.
Appointments are available with Clare on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
When not at work, Clare loves to be outside: drinking a cup of tea, reading a book, or being active.
Academics
As part of her commitment to evidence-based practice, Clare has published scientific articles on the role of hormones in emotion regulation, and bias in face recognition. She was lead researcher on a study looking at the role of psychology in coping with diabetes.
